electric planes

About 3% of global carbon emission comes from aviation. Experts predict that in 2050 it will increase to more than 10%. People try to reduce pollution in every way they can. This is where the idea for electric airplanes came from. Two-seater ,,Velis Electros" is already flying around Europe. It's a short-distance plane but still it is a breakthrough in aviation technology. The bigest problem is the batteries. Their size and weight. If you want to fully electrify boing 737 (classic passenger plane) with today's batteries there wouldn't be space for passengers and there would be energy for just an hour of flight. But scientist are working on more efficient batteries. Every catastrophe (in this case climate change) can make us discover new solution or we can start to thing in completely different way source: https://theconversation.com/electric-planes-are-coming-short-hop-regional-flights-could-be-running-on-batteries-in-a-few-years-190098

resurrecting traditional architectural techniques

In 20th century there was an international template for designing cities and buildings. Too much concrete in the city concentrated heat in it but even in hot climates, people started to following this template. Buildings are now addicted to air conditioners and other method (that need energy) to cool their houses. Some architects  are working to start over traditional techniques in hot climates to keep buildings cool without using energy. Houses need to be specially designed. For example chimney which funnels air through houses that bring cool inside. This article showed me that sometimes oldfashioned  and outdated techniques are smarter than modern ones. That is worthfull to inspired by what people used to do before (for example how they designed buildings) and to create your own ideas basing on people's experience. source: https://theconversation.com/keep-buildings-cool-as-it-gets-hotter-by-resurrecting-traditional-architectural-techniques-podcast-190384
